The Need Never Stops!
Every day, 365 days a year, a woman calls a domestic violence shelter hotline because she and her children are in danger of abuse, permanent injury or death. It is essential that a telephone is answered and beds are available.
Fortress Outreach answers over 300 hotline calls and serves over 100 families annually. We provide 24-hour hotline services, emergency shelter, crisis intervention and a hospital based advocacy program. We have a Crisis Counseling Center for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Financial Support / Opportunities 
Fortress Outreach is recognized as a public charity under section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code. Contributions to support our programs are tax deductible.
Volunteers are the heart of our programs.
Volunteers provide services at our shelter and counseling center. They answer the hotline, provide childcare while moms are in classes or away from the shelter. Volunteers provide crisis intervention and perform vital office services. Volunteers
paint and help with the minor repairs at the shelter and transitional housing sites. All volunteers receive training before starting with our program and training updates.
Missouri Domestic Violence Shelter Tax Credits
Individuals, businesses and corporations are eligible to receive a 50% tax credit for cash donations. Donations cannot be less than $100 and cannot exceed the taxpayer's state income tax liability for the year the credit is claimed. The tax credit may be carried until the full credit is claimed.
Land & Real Estate
We are continually in need of and very grateful for the donation of land and real estate for the expansion of our transitional program for families leaving emergency shelter but not ready for independent living.
Products & Services
Our needs include grocery store and discount store (Kmart, Target) gift certificates, office supplies, paper goods, personal care items, and lines. donated printing services help us get the news out about our programs by newsletters and brochures. Donated services of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and landscaping keeps our shelter and housing sites beautiful and operating properly.
